Community Fun Day 2018

Today, children, staff, family and friends of St. Peter’s gathered together at our Community Fun Day to celebrate the upcoming retirement of Master John Campbell.

The sun was shining, the mood was bright and the food was plentiful as families visited the many stalls and activities on offer.

Throughout the afternoon, races were held with winners keenly taking their place on the podium.

Penalty shoot outs and the keepy uppy challenges saw many avid footballers test their skills.  Mr Curran drilled the children on their Gaelic skills in centre field, played lots of fun games and was kept on his toes while refereeing a hard-played father/son match.  To finish, a staff/pupil football game brought cheers and boos as the kids worked together (despite the hot temperatures) to successfully beat their teachers into defeat!

Bouncy castles, runs, slides and even a football dome kept even the smallest tots amused as parents relaxed and enjoyed our beautiful Sunday weather.  Even Master Campbell was seen on the Minion slide!

At the paddling pool, challengers could even win some money as they expertly flicked 20p coins onto floating plates.

Over at the Tombola, children and adults delighted in their luck as they chose and found their ticketed prizes.

Up in the school yard, children enjoyed arts and crafts, a magic show and some gorgeous face painting with lots of designs on offer.  Our School Council worked hard at the Cake Stand selling yummy treats baked and donated by parents, staff and friends.

Among the tasty treats on offer at the stalls were candy floss, popcorn, crepes, burgers and chips, and even some cool ice cream.

Children, parents and friends were encouraged to write a personal message in our book for Mr Campbell that we’re sure he will enjoy reading over the next weeks and months.

With super music to create the party atmosphere, we even had visits from some passers-by, who came to find out what was happening, and stayed to join in the fun!

We’d like to say a huge thank you to all of the businesses and families who contributed in any way to our celebration, St. John’s Ambulance who were on hand throughout the day, and to all of the parents and friends of St. Peter’s who helped out and stayed behind to clear up – we couldn’t have done it without you.

You helped to make today one that Master Campbell will never forget!!
