‘Spectacular’ Visitors for P2 and P3

Last week, Specsavers Opticians, Newry, visited with the Primary 2 and Primary 3 children at St. Peter’s.

The presentation, which was very interactive, and centered around visual activities, was brought to life by Bridget and Maria.  They talked with the children about the importance of looking after our eyes and making sure we keep our eyes healthy.

The visitors explained what happens when you come in for an eye test and encouraged the children to try on the trial frames.  Everyone giggled at how funny they looked!

The children got to look for 3D pictures and learned how the eyelashes and eyebrows protect our eyes from dirt and germs, before getting to try on some funky frames.

Did you know..?

Most young children have their eyesight assessed as part of their developmental checks.  However, these checks aren’t as thorough as a complete test by a qualified Optician.

– At Specsavers Opticians, Newry, children above the age of 3 can have their eyes tested.

– A child in full time education under the age of 16 is entitled to an NHS sight test and NHS glass, if required, once every year.

– Specsavers Opticians, Newry, offer a FREE pair of glasses along with the NHS pair (Kids and Teen range)

To book an eye examination for your child, you can make an appointment online or by telephone; 028 302 50011.

Specsavers Newry are open 7 days a week and late night Wednesday-Friday.
